Another fun and educational night at the Victorian Button Collectors meeting last night. Thanks to the kindness of fellow collectors, I now have another ‘sweetheart brooch’ and a very interesting card of pearlshell buttons.

Produced in Australia by War Veterans.  The G.Herring symbol is in the corner.

I moved a button to show the illustration of the diver.

Sweetheart brooches were made by both by jewellers and soldiers and given to mothers, wives and sweetheart to wear as tokens of pride and hope while the soldiers were away on service. This one is made of a British and Australian button.
